The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the United Arab Emirates has announced that the city of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, has been chosen as the global host of World Jazz Day in 2025.
According to Amac News: The ministry said that this celebration, which is presented with the participation of DCT Abu Dhabi, will be established around its cultural heritage, which is defined as a tapestry of Arab and Emirati culture.
In this celebration, the participants will introduce the world audience to "Arabic jazz" with classical instruments such as oud, qanun and reeds.
As the 2025 World Host City, Abu Dhabi, a UNESCO Creative City of Music, will showcase the interplay of folk music and jazz traditions dating back decades.
As a UNESCO Creative City of Music, Abu Dhabi has long been a beacon of musical innovation, where traditional Arabic melodies blend seamlessly with global genres to create a vibrant and unique cultural tapestry, said Mohammed Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi.
According to him, Abu Dhabi's investment in culture has made the city a global destination for art and creativity, attracting world-class cultural institutions and supporting local institutions and its Arab roots.
Established by the UNESCO General Conference in 2011 and recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, World Jazz Day brings together countries and communities around the world every April 30.
The day pays tribute to the jazz art form, its capacity to bring people together and its power to promote dialogue, freedom of expression, as well as respect for human rights and diversity.
