The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan has announced the holding of the sixth round of bidding for the sale of emeralds in Panjshir province.


According to Amac News: The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan has said in a statement that 2 thousand 34 carats of Panjshir emerald have been sold in the sixth round of bidding.
The announcement states that this amount of emeralds has been sold for a total price of 131 thousand and 300 US dollars.
According to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, 90% of the sale of Panjshir emerald belongs to the miners, and the government takes only 10% of that share.
Panjshir emerald mines are located in Panjshir Valley, about 113 km northeast of Kabul and at an altitude of about 3135 to 4270 meters.
Currently, Colombia, Brazil, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and America are the major exporters of emeralds in the world, and it is said that Panjshir emeralds are comparable in terms of quality to Colombian emeralds.
