EWEC launched Clean Energy Certificates

The Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) announced by publishing a report that it has launched clean energy certificates for the first time.


According to Amac News: Wind energy CECs are available for purchase for the first time, enabling units to achieve their sustainability goals by certifying clean energy consumption and reducing carbon emissions in their operations, according to the EWEC report.
The introduction of wind CECs follows the launch of the UAE's first utility-scale wind program, under which EWEC will sign a power purchase agreement in the fourth quarter of 2023 with Masdar, one of the world's leading renewable energy companies, for electricity generated from farms. Buddy signed.
EWEC procures the electricity generated from the wind farms located at Al Sila, Sir Bani Yas Island and Delma Island.
In total, the wind farms have a combined capacity of 99 megawatts of renewable energy, enough to power about 22,000 homes and displace 115,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
CEC tenders are open to all businesses and organizations interested in decarbonizing energy use and reducing Scope 2 emissions.
