Iranian media have reported that Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the governor of Herat, met with the officials of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the head of the Herat-Khaf Railway Consortium and discussed the completion of this project.
According to Amac News: Iranian media "Iraf" announced this news and wrote that the Iranian delegation, in this meeting with Afghan government officials in Herat, requested more cooperation in the field of fixing the existing defects on the Herat-Khaf railway.
On the other hand, Islamjar, the governor of Herat emphasized on the elimination of these deficiencies in the near future and said that the local administration of Herat has a serious will to solve the existing problems.
In this meeting, the two sides also emphasized the importance of using this project and said that this big project can reduce transit costs and speed up the transfer of goods.
According to the source, work is currently underway on the Herat-Khaf railway line. The official of the Iranian Railway Consortium said that once the existing defects are removed and the supplementary operations are completed, a train containing commercial goods can pass through this route every day.
The Khaf-Herat railway project is a railway line that connects the city of Khaf in Iran to Herat in Afghanistan.
This railway has four sections, three of which have been completed so far and the fourth section will be built in the future.
