Drydocks World has announced that it has signed an agreement with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Company (ZPMC) to purchase a new generation 5,000 ton floating shear leg crane.

According to Amac News: Drydocks World announced that this agreement was signed in order to respond to the growing demand for large-scale offshore projects.
The design, construction, testing and commissioning phase is expected to take approximately 24 months and be completed in the second quarter of 2026, according to the announcement.
Once operational, the crane will strengthen Drydocks World's heavy-lift capabilities, allowing it to meet the growing needs of large-scale projects, such as offshore high-voltage converter platforms and floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels. fulfill
The company's latest investment leverages its existing expertise, exemplified by the successful execution of major projects such as the conversion of the Tango FLNG and Excalibur FSU vessels, the refurbishment and conversion of the Firenze FPSO and the ongoing EPC project on the UK's Norfolk Vanguard offshore wind platforms.
The crane has a 160m long A-frame that allows heavy loads of up to 5,000t to be lifted 120m above the water and a 600t jib that can extend to a height of 180m.
This enables larger ship modules to be built in the yard and lifted for assembly on the ship, either near shore or at sea.
The crane can accommodate up to 50 personnel offshore, thereby reducing the need for support vessels. Its versatility also makes it suitable for the construction of offshore platforms, bridges and offshore developments.
