The Major Industrial Initiative Committee of Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) published a statement saying that the plan to reduce energy consumption tariffs has benefited 100 industrial units.
According to Amac News: In the announcement of the major industrial initiative committee of Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), it is stated that this initiative was launched under the Industrial Development Council.
According to the announcement, this initiative represents a strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MOIAT), the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) and EWEC to improve the business environment and enable manufacturing in the four emirates.
The number is expected to reach 150 industrial and technology businesses in the emirates of Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah by the end of 2026, said Sheikha Murad Al Balushi, Chairman of the Major Industrial Initiative Committee of Etihad Water and Electricity Company (EWEC).
He said that the industrial units benefiting from this plan will get a discount between 10 and 26 percent per kilowatt hour and a maximum of 26 elephants per kilowatt hour for factories whose monthly consumption is more than 10,000 megawatt hours.
The initiative, which was announced during the third "In the Emirates" forum in May 2024, is in line with the UAE's national strategy for industry and advanced technology, and aims to create an attractive investment environment, stimulate growth and support sustainable development in the country.
This initiative goes beyond financial savings. By enabling industrial companies to reduce operational and production costs, it promotes greater price competitiveness in domestic and international markets. The new system offers additional incentives, including flexible fees for installation and network connection services.
Customers can choose to include these costs in their monthly utility payments or pay a 20% discount compared to traditional installation costs. In addition, customers in this tier are exempt from paying insurance fees and do not incur any additional fees or charges for using the meter.
