Exploiting AI opportunities in the energy, technology and investment sectors should be prioritized

Amac News:The ENACT meeting focused on developing strategies aimed at redefining technology and energy partnerships for a sustainable energy transition that supports the rapid growth of AI, the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology said in a statement.
At the session, Sultan Ahmad El Jaber said the ENACT Summit has brought together top minds in energy, technology and investment to drive forward opportunities and solutions that harness the transformative potential of artificial intelligence.
He emphasized the need to harness the potential of artificial intelligence, saying that the increasing growth of the phenomenon will create momentum that no energy source alone will be able to deliver.
Participants also emphasized the urgent need to expand and accelerate investment in low-carbon energy solutions. They pointed out that the demand for electricity from AI data centers will reach 150 GW by 2030 and 330 GW by 2040 and called for an annual investment of $600 billion in infrastructure and 80 million kilometers of power grid upgrades by 2040.
Global industry leaders also agreed that AI can increase energy generation efficiency while reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the energy sector.
They discussed ways to optimize energy consumption in different sectors and highlighted the challenges and opportunities of using AI in industrial systems.
Participants also discussed the role of AI in modernizing power infrastructure, especially in energy transmission, and emphasized the need for significant infrastructure upgrades.
Finally, the ENACT Summit emphasized the need to advance a just energy transition that will contribute to global progress by addressing economic and infrastructure challenges, particularly in regions of the Global South.
The ENACT Summit was held on the eve of the ADIPEC 2024 event, the largest and most influential energy industry event in the world and will take place in Abu Dhabi from November 4 to 7.
