Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) has announced that it has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Kazakhstan for a 1 GW wind farm that is set to be constructed in the Jambyl region of the country.

According to Amac News: This agreement means that Kazakhstan will purchase the electricity generated from this wind farm from Masdar.
As stated in Masdar's announcement, the contract was signed on the sidelines of COP29 with the presence of energy officials from both countries in Baku.
This agreement comes just days after Kazakhstan and Masdar signed a contract for the construction of a wind power plant in the south of the country.
Masdar has noted that this plant, which is its first project in Kazakhstan, will be one of the largest wind power facilities in the region.
Construction of the wind farm is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026. Once completed, the farm will supply energy to approximately 300,000 homes in southern Kazakhstan and will prevent the emission of 2 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year.
