Silal, an agri-food technology company in Abu Dhabi, has announced that it has signed a Musataha agreement with KEZAD (Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi).
According to
Amac News: The agreement was announced at the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition (ADIFE) and aims to establish two advanced agricultural technology (AgTech) initiatives in Al Ain Industrial City, focused on sustainable agriculture and local food production.
The first initiative, in partnership with Iyris, a leading company in sustainable agricultural technologies in hot climates, will involve a revolutionary indoor farming project covering an area of 50,000 square meters (equivalent to 10 football fields).
The project is dedicated to cultivating high-quality berries and responds to the challenges of growing high-quality crops in the UAE’s desert climate.
The second initiative focuses on using advanced agricultural technologies in controlled environments covering 100,000 square meters to grow high-value crops.
The project uses innovative methods to significantly reduce water consumption, minimize carbon emissions, and maximize production throughout the year.
Salmin Al Ameri, CEO of Silal, emphasized the transformative potential of these initiatives, saying that by integrating advanced technologies with sustainable practices, the company aims to create a thriving local food production ecosystem and increase food security.
