He added that the EU-Mercosur agreement is the largest agreement signed so far in the field of food and beverage protection of the European Union.
Von der Leyen also stated: "We have listened to farmers' concerns and responded to them. "This agreement includes strong safeguards to protect your livelihood."
The EU president also noted that the EU-Mercosur agreement would save European companies €4 billion in export duties annually.
This economic cooperation is signed between the European Union and South American countries while international relations and global trade are affected by sensitive global conditions.
