AQA Water Solutions has announced that it has embarked on a Dh95 million project to develop a comprehensive SCADA system across its treatment infrastructure, with a focus on a central control centre.

According to Amac News: Based on the announcement of AQA Water Solutions, this project, which was announced during the IDRA 2024 World Conference, aims to increase environmental sustainability, improve operational efficiency, reduce the company's carbon footprint and increase wastewater treatment capacity by approximately 20%.
This project is assigned to Electro Mechanical Company LLC and is implemented with the support of TVA Engineering consultants and the use of Siemens technologies. In this project, a SCADA system is at the center of attention, which enables immediate monitoring and control of the TAQA Water Solutions network using more than 2000 sensors, transmitters and devices.
Analyzing and processing data collected from across the emirate, the SCADA system enables identifying trends, monitoring remote sites, and receiving instant notifications of events. This approach makes it possible to identify and identify potential problems and optimize operational efficiency.
The project is said to connect all facilities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and 91% of TAQA Water Solutions' wastewater collection and treatment assets will benefit from this integration.
The aim of this project is to help create a cleaner and healthier environment for communities through early detection of breakdowns, sewage overflows and leaks.
One of the key benefits of upgrading the Siemens central SCADA system is intelligent monitoring based on artificial intelligence to increase operational efficiency. Also, this project can reduce up to 13% of the carbon emissions of the treatment plants, which is equivalent to approximately 6500 metric tons per year.
The system also seeks to reduce maintenance costs by 12% and reduce energy consumption, targeting a total annual savings of 10 million dirhams. This project also aims to strengthen security by applying the latest cyber security measures and improving physical security.
The president of Electro Mechanical Company, which is the exclusive representative of Siemens in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, said that the new SCADA system will transform TAQA Water Solutions' operations, enabling proactive wastewater management and performance optimization.
