According to Amac News: During the visit, the use of the advanced research vessel "Giwon" to conduct scientific studies and environmental assessments in the waters of the Arabian Gulf was introduced as a key tool.
During the visit, the UAE delegation met with Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dina, Minister of Petroleum and Environment and Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment of Bahrain.
Other programs of the delegation included visiting the Arabian Gulf University and the University of Bahrain and discussing the development of joint programs to study biodiversity and address environmental challenges in the Arabian Gulf.
In this regard, the research vessel "Giwon" began a mission to conduct pioneering scientific studies in the territorial waters of the UAE and Bahrain. The mission included collecting more than 150 samples from eight different locations and conducting the first-ever environmental DNA study of marine biodiversity.
Other research programs on the ship included assessing heavy metal levels and nutrient enrichment rates to gauge ecosystem balance, as well as investigating the presence of microplastic particles in the Gulf waters.
Al Dhaheri said that through innovative research conducted on the "Jeune", the two countries will be able to strengthen the environmental database and develop scientific solutions to environmental challenges in the Arabian Gulf.
The "Jeune", which is considered the most advanced marine research vessel in the Middle East, was launched in January 2023 and aims to support efforts to monitor fish stocks and protect biodiversity and marine habitats.
