Cement factory worth $145 million to be built in Logar

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of the Afghan interim government announced that it has signed a $145 million contract with SACO Afghan to build the Al-Tamur cement plant in Logar province.


According to Amac News: The contract was signed between the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and Saco Afghan Mining Trading, Processing and Extraction Company, the ministry said on Tuesday.
The plant will produce 2,500 tons of cement per day, creating direct and indirect jobs for hundreds of people.
According to the Ministry of Mines, high-ranking officials such as Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Economic Minister of Afghanistan, Hedayatullah Badri, Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, and Wazidan, CEO of Saco Afghan Company attended the signing ceremony.
The acting minister of mines said that during his tenure, four contracts with a total capital of $623 million were signed for the construction of cement plants in different provinces of Afghanistan.
Badri also noted that the contract for the construction of the Al-Tamur cement plant in Logar province was signed with an investment of approximately $145 million.
