Amac News: Citing the UAE state news agency "WAM", on the first day of this six-day festival, 2,025 kilograms of dates were presented from 27 participants in the "Elite Al Ain" competition.
The focus of the festival includes seven date competitions, each of which focuses on a specific variety: Elit Al Aain, Khalas, Fard, Dabas, Boman, Shishi and Zamel. Participants will compete for a share of 70 prizes, worth a total of AED 1.756 million.
Organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the aim of the festival is to highlight the historical importance of the palm tree as a symbol of the UAE's heritage and to raise awareness of the traditions and cultural practices of the UAE.
Also, this festival introduces the historical importance of Al-Ain city and promotes its cultural, economic and agricultural potential.
The opening of this festival was held in the presence of Fars Khalaf Al-Mazrouei, the head of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, Mughir Khamis Al Khaili, the head of the Abu Dhabi Community Development Authority, Abdullah Mubarak Al-Muhairi, the director-general of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, and other prominent figures and executives from various departments of the authority.
It should be noted that in addition to the competitions, the participants in this festival can participate in the date auction, visit the date shops and tour the traditional market.
