Turkey's annual inflation falls to 44.38% in December

Turkey's annual inflation rate fell to 44.38% in December, marking the seventh consecutive decline since June 2024, Anadolu news agency reported, citing TurkStat.


According to Amac News: Based on TurkStat statistics published on Friday, January 3, this figure in December was lower than the market's forecast of 45.21% and also lower than November's 47.09%.
The lowest annual inflation was observed in transportation prices at 25.88%, while the highest inflation was related to education at 91.64%.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index rose 1.03% in December, the slowest growth since May 2023, down from 2.24% in November.
Turkish Finance and Treasury Minister Mehmet Simsek wrote on the X platform that in December, inflation was 1%, the lowest level in 19 months. Annual inflation reached 44.4%, which is 2.4% higher than the range predicted by the central bank.
Therefore, inflation in 2024 has decreased by 20 points compared to the end of 2022 and 2023, Shamshak added.
