DEWA and Expo City Dubai discuss cooperation

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashemi, CEO of Expo City Dubai, met and discussed ways to strengthen strategic cooperation in the field of clean energy and sustainability.


According to Amac News: In this meeting, the expansion of cooperation to wider horizons and the use of DEWA's expertise in providing services and adopting better practices to promote sustainable development and global leadership were discussed.
In this meeting, Al Hashemi appreciated DEWA's efforts in advancing the transition to clean energy and emphasized the importance of these initiatives in strengthening the UAE's position as a major supporter of sustainability at the global level. Also, the role of joint cooperation in line with global goals to accelerate the transition to clean energy was discussed.
On the other hand, Altair explained about DEWA's views, strategies and achievements in the field of renewable and clean energy and emphasized their alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.
He mentioned the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Zero Carbon Strategy by 2050 and said that the goal is to provide 100% of Dubai's electricity generation capacity from clean energy sources.
He also highlighted DEWA's contributions to global action on climate change and emphasized the focus on innovation, digital transformation and public-private partnerships to achieve sustainability goals.
The CEO of DEWA also introduced major solar energy projects such as the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
The project, which is the largest single-site solar park in the world, has a total capacity of 2,860 MW using the latest photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) technologies.
