Raet Butler, president and founder of the SkyJuice Foundation from Australia, which won the water category, appreciated the Prize's role in expanding his organization's innovative solutions.
He noted that his foundation's win is the result of developing an innovative, safe and sustainable water treatment system that uses simple filtration techniques and provides clean drinking water to low-income communities without the need for electricity or chemicals.
He expressed hope that they can expand their reach to countries like Bhutan.
Abdul Latif Olasibikan, founder of NaFarm Foods from Nigeria, which won the food category, thanked the UAE for its continued support and expressed hope that they could soon expand the solution to the 24 states of Nigeria.
He explained that NaFarm Foods won for its development of solar-powered hybrid food dryers aimed at reducing food waste and tackling post-harvest losses in Nigeria.
These dryers help farmers to dry and preserve their products for a longer period of time.
