The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the acting government of Afghanistan has announced that the amount of foreign trade of this country in 2024 will exceed 12 billion US dollars.

According to Amac News: Akhundzadeh Abdulsalam Javad, the spokesman of the ministry, said yesterday, Tuesday, January 14, that the amount of Afghanistan's imports has increased by 38 percent compared to last year.
Javad said that the total value of Afghanistan's export is 1.8 billion dollars and its import is 10.6 billion dollars.
He added that these figures show a 4% decrease in exports compared to the previous year and a significant increase in imports.
According to the statement of the spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, Afghanistan's exports to China and Pakistan have decreased in 2024.
Meanwhile, exports to India and Türkiye have been on an upward trend. The main export products include dried and fresh fruits, medicinal plants and some minerals.
Regarding the decrease in exports to China and Pakistan, Javad said: "The decrease in trade relations and border barriers are the main reasons for this decrease. On the other hand, trade cooperation with India and Türkiye has been strengthened due to new agreements and reduction of customs barriers.
The 38% increase in Afghanistan's imports is due to the increase in demand for consumer goods, industrial raw materials and equipment. A major part of the country's imports comes from neighboring countries, especially Pakistan and Iran.
