China's economy showed resilience in the first three months of 2024, with gross domestic product reaching 29.63 trillion yuan (US$4.17 trillion), the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said.
According to Amac News: Sheng Layun, the deputy of the National Office of China, said that this figure has increased by 5.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to the deputy national office, the added value of agricultural products has increased by 3.8% compared to last year. Industrial production has also grown and the total added value of industrial companies has increased by 6.1 percent across the country.
Lion added that sales in the market also grew, with total retail sales of consumer goods reaching 12.0327 trillion yuan, up 4.7 percent from last year. The total value of import and export of goods reached 10.1693 trillion yuan, which shows an increase of 5.0% compared to last year.
According to the Deputy National Bureau of China, trade between China and the "Belt and Road" partner countries increased by 5.5% in the first three months, accounting for 47.4% of the total value of imports and exports.
China's GDP grew by 5.2 percent year-on-year in 2023, and the country has targeted full-year economic growth of around 5 percent for 2024.
