Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Ras Al Khaimah Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, said that the emirate is among the busiest air and cargo destinations in the world.

According to Amac News, Al Qasimi said that the Ras Al Khaimah Civil Aviation Authority has recorded a significant increase in passenger and cargo traffic, supporting the development of the emirate's business, tourism, hospitality, services and international trade sectors.
Al Qasimi made these remarks after the Ras Al Khaimah Civil Aviation Authority announced a significant growth in airport operations in 2024.
He stated that the airport recorded a new record in 2024 with 661,765 passengers, representing a growth of 28% compared to 2023 and nearly double the number of passengers in 2022.
This increase was attributed to a variety of factors, including the expansion of airline services, the addition of new destinations and an overall improvement in travel demand. The number of departing passengers also increased by 39% to 293,815 passengers.
Cargo operations at Ras Al Khaimah Airport saw an exceptional increase of nearly 97% in 2024, with 6,652 tonnes of cargo processed. This growth exceeded the 2024 forecast by 190% and reflects the airport’s growing importance in global supply chains, particularly with the expansion of e-commerce and logistics operations.
The airport’s cargo handling capabilities, including the addition of Flyao cargo services, have contributed to these impressive results.
The head of the RAK Civil Aviation Authority also noted that the airport experienced a significant increase of 21.3% in aircraft movements, with 7,440 flights recorded in 2024.
