Japan successfully launches new navigation satellite

Japan's space agency announced yesterday (Sunday, February 3) that it has successfully launched a navigation satellite with its new flagship H3 rocket.


According to Amac News: Based on the agency’s announcement, the satellite was launched with the aim of creating a more accurate positioning system independent of external services.
The H3 rocket, which carried the Michibk-6 satellite, took off from the Tangashima Space Center on an island in southwestern Japan.
According to reports from Japan, everything went well during the launch and the satellite separated from the rocket as planned about 29 minutes after launch.
According to the Japan Science and Technology Agency, the country plans to launch two more navigation satellites by March 2026, achieving a seven-satellite system to provide more accurate global positioning capability without dependence on external services.
Japan also plans to have a network of 11 satellites by the late 2030s.
