UAE-Germany Business Forum convened in Abu Dhabi

The United Arab Emirates and Germany held the UAE-German Business Forum in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, February 3rd, aimed at strengthening bilateral economic relations.


According to Amac News: The event took place at the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) and brought together government officials, industry leaders, and private sector representatives from both countries to explore further collaboration in key strategic sectors.
Among those present were Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Jörg Kukies, Germany's Minister of Finance, along with the UAE Ambassador to Germany, the German Ambassador to the UAE, and prominent figures from the UAE and German business communities.
In his speech, Al Zeyoudi highlighted Germany as one of the UAE's most important economic partners, stating that non-oil trade between the UAE and Germany reached $13.8 billion in 2024, reflecting a 5.4 percent increase compared to the previous year. He emphasized the growing role of the UAE as a gateway to high-growth markets, providing German businesses with unparalleled access to Asia, Africa, and the Middle East through its Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA).
Meanwhile, Jörg Kukies reaffirmed Germany's commitment to enhancing trade and investment ties with the UAE. He stated, "The UAE, as a major gateway to regional and global markets, is a strategic partner for Germany, and we look forward to strengthening our cooperation, especially in advanced technology, clean energy, trade, and sustainable investment."
Discussions at the forum focused on strengthening cooperation in clean energy, finance, industrial technology, and logistics, with an emphasis on sustainability and innovation. Additionally, the talks addressed Germany's increasing investments in advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and industrial automation sectors in the UAE, benefiting from the UAE's NextGen FDI initiative.
Germany remains the UAE's second-largest trading partner in the EU and thirteenth globally. Non-oil exports from the UAE to Germany saw a significant increase of 44.7 percent in 2024, reaching 616 million.
Furthermore, German exports to the UAE rose to12.1 billion, reinforcing Germany's position as the second-largest import partner of the UAE in the EU.
The UAE-Germany Business Forum also facilitated the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding for joint investments between Emirati and German companies, particularly in fintech, digital transformation, and sustainable investments. These agreements include investments by the German company Capital 468 in various UAE-based firms, such as the digital payment platform Alaan and the financing company Flow48. Additional investments were made in Hydrum Technologies, a market-making platform, and Oro, a digital platform for tokenized gold investments.
Moreover, the German company ZenAdmin, specializing in IT and HR automation solutions, announced its expansion through the acquisition of a UAE-based IT platform, enhancing its presence in the local market and supporting the UAE's digital transformation efforts.
