Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, announced that it is looking to establish a strategic partnership with Spanish airline Air Europa.
According to
Amac News, the aim of the partnership is to strengthen commercial and operational relations and provide wider options, higher quality services and greater added value for passengers.
Etihad said it plans to increase its flights to Air Europa’s hub in Madrid to twice daily from summer 2025, providing immediate access between Abu Dhabi and Spain.
The partnership will help strengthen connections between Europe and Latin America, as well as the Middle East and Asia, creating seamless travel options in these key regions.
“We are in discussions to establish a strategic partnership that will include a variety of activities, including deepening our codeshare and frequent flyer programs,” said Arik De, Etihad’s chief revenue and commercial officer.
Richard Clark, Air Europa’s CEO, said: “With the launch of our operations between Madrid-Barajas and Abu Dhabi, we will increase our reach to the Middle East and Asia, and provide additional opportunities to connect these two regions to the Americas via Europe.”
The partnership will further strengthen Air Europa’s presence in the Middle East and Asia, and leverage Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub to create greater connections for its customers.
