The economic deputy of the prime minister's office has rejected the recent report of the World Bank that Afghanistan's gross production decreased by 26% last year.
According to Amac News; The economic deputy of the Prime Minister's Office published a newsletter and wrote that after the establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, the gross domestic product has increased in this country.
The World Bank has written in its recent report, Afghanistan's economic outlook looks bleak and the risk of Afghanistan's economic weakness and stagnation will remain in place until next year.
Also, in the report of the World Bank, the reduction of foreign aid, the uncertain situation, the reduction of investment due to disorganization and mistrust, the damage and loss of the agricultural sector and the ban on the cultivation of poppy are said to be the causes of the economic stagnation of Afghans.
According to the World Bank, citing the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the annual income of Afghan farmers from poppy cultivation is 1.3 billion dollars, which is nearly 8% of the gross domestic income.
Also, this bank has said that currently unemployment has increased in Afghanistan, prices have risen and demand has decreased, and all this has increased the need for basic foodstuffs from 16% to 36%.
In the report of this bank, it is stated that the basic problems in the private sector and the reduction of international aid and support for important services are other concerns that prevent Afghanistan's economic progress.
Considering all these concerns, the World Bank has said that the income of the caretaker government in 2023 has increased by 9% and has reached 210.7 billion Afghani, of which 108.1 billion is from customs and the remaining 102.6 billion is domestic revenue.
The World Bank report stated that Afghanistan's exports in 2022 and 2023 are relatively stable, but it says that the country's imports have increased.
This bank said that in 2023, Afghanistan had imports worth 7.8 billion dollars, which shows a 26% increase compared to last year, and in 2022, this amount was 6.3 billion dollars.
