The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan (OCHA) says that about 23.7 million people, including 12.3 million children, will need humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan in 2024.
According to Amac News: Yesterday evening (Saturday, April 27), OCHA published a report on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan in March and wrote that this institution needs 1.7 billion dollars to overcome the humanitarian crisis in the country.
According to this organization's report, countries and donor organizations have provided only 35% of this budget so far.
According to OCHA, in March, Sweden, United Arab Emirates and UNICEF provided the most aid to Afghanistan.
In this report, OCHA has also called the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan dire and stated that, along with other challenges, the recent rainfall in the country has also had a negative impact on the lives of Afghans.
According to this report, in the last month alone, 1,500 acres of agricultural land were destroyed due to floods in different parts of Afghanistan and about 540 houses were destroyed in seven provinces of the country.
Referring to the situation of Afghan citizens, OCHA noted that during the month of March, at least 948,975 people, including 39,246 children, were provided basic health services in the country.
According to OCHA, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has also provided basic health and nutrition services to 5 million 432 thousand 789 people in Afghanistan, half of whom are children.
This report states that from March 25 to 31, 1,435 suspected cases of measles and nine deaths due to this disease were registered in six provinces of Afghanistan.
