The Telecommunications and Digital Regulatory Authority (TDRA) celebrated International Girls in ICT Day.
According to Amac News: The annual event "International Day of Girls in Information and Communication Technology" is part of the initiatives of the International Telecommunication Union in order to inspire and empower women to play influential and prominent roles and serve as role models in the ICT sector.
This event featured a series of activities aimed at increasing girls' awareness of future opportunities in the ICT sector and motivating them to pursue related fields of study.
"More than 49% of graduates in ICT-related fields are women," said Mohammad Al-Ramsi, TDRA's deputy director general in the communications department.
In this event, a panel discussion entitled "Behind every robot, an ambitious woman" was held with the participation of Yasmin Al-Nazi, one of the founders and ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the global artificial intelligence community and business development manager at MARSES Robotics.
The second panel discussion titled "Inspiring Experiences of Youth in the ICT Sector" was presented by speakers from TDRA in collaboration with the Connect Youth Council from E& and DEWA.
According to the United Nations Development Program, the United Arab Emirates ranked first in the gender equality index in 2024, ranking first regionally and seventh globally. Data from the Office of Artificial Intelligence shows that women make up 46 percent of AI program graduates.
In addition, approximately 42% of the work team at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center is female. Women made up 80 percent of the science team involved in the Hope Probe mission.
Women make up approximately 67 percent of eligible participants at the National Science and Technology Fair.
