The International Energy Agency (IEA) will bring together global energy and climate leaders in Paris on 6-8 June for the IEA’s 8th Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency.

More than 30 ministers and over 40 CEOs will attend the Global Conference, which will be co-chaired by Agnès Pannier-Runacher, France’s Minister of Energy Transition, and Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the IEA.
The IEA said the global energy crisis has dramatically escalated concerns over energy security and the inflationary impact of higher energy prices on the global economy. Making energy supplies affordable, secure and sustainable is a central political and economic imperative for many governments around the world. While there are many ways for countries to address the current crisis, scaling up action on energy efficiency is the unambiguous first and best response for achieving affordability, supply security and climate goals.
The IEA’s Global Conference is the leading international forum for bringing together ministers, CEOs and thought leaders from around the world with the aim of accelerating progress on energy efficiency to address both the energy crisis and the climate crisis while strengthening economic growth. Participants will consider how policy action in areas such as innovation, digitalisation and finance can help governments support improvements in energy efficiency. The conference will provide a forum for senior decision-makers to share experiences of implementing policy and driving investment in real-world projects.
At the Global Conference, the IEA will publish its new report examining how governments have turned to energy efficiency during the energy crisis to boost energy affordability and security, and to meet climate goals. The research will look at the impact of new government policies, record investments in energy efficiency and energy awareness campaigns implemented over the past 12 months. It will also explore how decision-makers can strengthen ambition going forward.
