Asian Development Bank steps up climate action

The partners of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have announced that they have committed about 16.4 billion dollars in 2023 in order to finance and spend the budget for climate action.


According to Amac News: The partners of this bank said that this amount is 44% more than the amount paid last year.
"The Asian Development Bank is accelerating climate action and sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region in collaboration with partners,"Woochong Um "said, Director General of the Asian Development Bank.
"We are strengthening renewable energy with the largest wind farm in Southeast Asia, the Monsoon Wind Power Project, in Laos PDR," Um added in his speech.
ADB's new partners include the Global Alliance for Energy for People and Planet and the International Financial Facility for Education.
The Asian Development Bank has also established new financing partnerships in 2023, including the Innovative Climate Finance Facility in Asia and the Pacific and the Ocean Resilience and Coastal Adaptation Financing Partnership Facility.
The Asian Development Bank has mobilized 15 bilateral and 7 multilateral organizations, 5 global funds, 29 trust and private funds for joint financing of 2023 projects.
Co-financing for independent projects will reach $9.5 billion in 2023, and co-financing for non-governmental operations will reach $6.9 billion in 2023, the bank said.
