SAFEEN Group, part of AD Ports Group, has announced that it is trialling an electric tug in its marine services fleet.

According to Amac News: This tugboat is the first example of its kind in the Middle East, which will be deployed in the flagship facility of AD Port Group, Bandar Khalifa.
Unveiled during the 27th International Tug and Salvage Convention, Exhibition and Awards 2024 in Dubai, the Damen RSD-E Tug 2513 is an all-electric harbor tug that is expected to bring numerous benefits.
The advantages of this tug include: zero emissions from the tank to the propeller, operational efficiency due to having a 70 ton column pull, less maintenance compared to similar models with a diesel engine.
