Competition Commission of India (CCI) chairman Ravnit Kaur says India has completed the preparation of a regulatory framework under its new Competition Reform Act.
According to Amac news: Speaking at the 15th annual commemoration day of the CCI, Kaur said last year, the CCI was engaged in preparing the regulatory framework under its revised Competition Act to be passed in 2023.
India's Attorney General R Venkataramani said free markets can only function with government-created safeguards such as competition regulations.
He emphasized the necessity of coexistence between the free market engine and social interests.
He said the newly created regulatory framework introduced "settlements and commitments, transaction value thresholds for notifying mergers and cartels on the statute book and an innovative Leniency Plus concept designed to address the complexities of modern markets and business practices."
