Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced its participation in the 13th Dubai Sustainable Transport Award 2024 as a strategic sponsor by publishing a statement.
According to Amac News: The 2024 Sustainable Transport Award is organized by the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) and supported by Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai.
It is said that the winners of this award will be announced in June 2024.
The officials of this award said that the purpose of this process is to increase the efficiency of energy consumption in the transportation sector and reduce the carbon footprint in this sector.
The CEO of DEWA said: "This award establishes Dubai's global leadership in easy and sustainable mobility, which is in line with the Dubai Green Mobility Initiative 2030 and the Demand Side Management Strategy 2030." Our goal is to improve mobility efficiency and smart EV charging.
In his speech, he added: "The green EV charging initiative launched by DEWA in 2014 encouraged sustainable mobility in Dubai. This initiative played an important role in accelerating the development of electric charging station infrastructure across the UAE, resulting in a network of 700 charging stations in collaboration with stakeholders. This includes around 400 green charging stations operated by DEWA.”
Since 2014, Dubai has seen a significant increase in electric vehicles. By the end of April 2024, the number of electric vehicles in Dubai will reach more than 30,000 units, significantly supporting the UAE's plans to transition to sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation.
