The World Health Assembly has announced that this year the organization will recognize it in the resolution entitled "All for health, health for all".
According to Amac News: This organization said that the resolution on climate change and health, with the joint support of the United Arab Emirates, was successfully adopted in the 77th World Health Assembly.
The resolution, which refers to the UAE's COP28 Declaration on Climate and Health, aims to integrate climate considerations into the programs and policies of the World Health Organization (WHO).
This is the first time that climate change has been prioritized by the WHO and its member states.
This resolution was proposed by the Netherlands and Peru and supported by sponsoring countries including Barbados, Chile, Fiji, Kenya, Monaco, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
COP28 raised the political profile of the climate-health nexus and helped integrate health into the global climate change agenda. Following the success of the climate and health agenda at COP28, and the widespread support for the United Arab Emirates' COP28 declaration on climate and health, the strong focus on climate change at this year's World Health Assembly reflects the growing synergy between water and Global air and global health diplomacy.
At the Assembly, the UAE COP28 Presidency made an important announcement, revealing that 27 other countries have endorsed the UAE's COP28 Declaration on Climate and Health.
This endorsement brings to 150 the total number of countries that have committed to addressing the immediate health impacts of climate change. The declaration, originally introduced during COP28 in December, has been signed by 123 countries and was launched just before the historic Health Day, marking an important step forward.
At the World Health Assembly, COP28 also announced that six new institutions have signed the Guiding Principles on Financing Climate and Health Solutions, joining the 41 organizations that endorsed them during COP28.
The second strategic dialogue of the World Health Organization on climate and health will be held at the World Health Assembly. The dialogue seeks to strengthen international cooperation to implement COP28 commitments and lay the groundwork for future COP meetings.
It will showcase the growing cooperation on climate and health between the UAE, Azerbaijan, and Brazil, as they chair COP28, COP29, and COP30.
Brazil has announced that it will host a dedicated health day at COP30 in 2025.
