The United Arab Emirates received a prestigious award at the SIDS 2024 Small Island Developing States Partnership Awards.


According to Amac News: The SIDS Partnerships Awards recognize organizations that have made significant contributions to the sustainable development of SIDS through innovative and impactful partnerships.
The United Arab Emirates has won first place in the economic category for the United Arab Emirates Pacific Partnership Fund and the Emirates Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund.
The two plans of the United Arab Emirates aim to accelerate the transition to renewable energy, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, increase energy security and reduce the effects of climate change in the Caribbean and Pacific regions.
The Awards Steering Committee also announced two other winners, Infrastructure for Resilient Island States (IRIS) nominated by the Secretariat of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure CDRI) won.
Recipients were selected based on SMART criteria, which ensure that contributions are specific to SIDS needs, measurable and monitorable, feasible and responsive, resource-oriented and results-oriented, with well-defined timelines for implementation and transparency by all.
The official awards ceremony is scheduled to take place during the SIDS Global Multilateral Partnership Annual Dialogue on 10 July 2024, coinciding with the 2024 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
