The UAE participated in the UN Oceans Conference 2025

The delegation of the United Arab Emirates, led by Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, has participated in the Ocean Action: Immersed in Change conference.


According to Amac News: This conference with the World Oceans Day, this event brought together ministers from around the world in San Jose, Costa Rica to discuss the protection of the ocean ecosystem and accelerate the ambition to improve the health of the oceans.
The conference was organized by the government of Costa Rica on the eve of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC) to be held next year in Nice, Paris.
Speaking about the UAE's progress in achieving the 30x30 target, which aims to protect and conserve at least 30% of the planet's oceans by 2030, the minister emphasized the importance of ocean ecosystems in the social and economic development of the UAE.
sHe also highlighted the steps the UAE is taking to include oceans in climate action, noting the UAE's commitment to plant 100 million mangroves by 2030.
Dr Al Dahak said: "We must continue to move in line with the 14th goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development and work towards the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas and marine resources. "It is important to establish clear goals to maintain the health of the oceans and protect them from climate change, pollution and overfishing."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need to preserve and strengthen the biodiversity of the oceans and the need to deal with ocean waste, and emphasized the importance of appropriate financing mechanisms and establishing cooperation to achieve the desired results.
He stressed that the world should accept the importance of multilateral cooperation in strengthening cooperation on global ocean agenda issues, and the United Nations will be a key platform for joint action in the future.
