The Saudi Arabian News Agency (SPA) announced by publishing a report that the kingdom of this country has launched a project of geographical survey of renewable energy sites.

According to Amac News: The report states that the King of Saudi Arabia has signed contracts with Saudi companies to install 1,200 stations to measure solar and wind energy in all areas of the kingdom.
Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia, said that this project will cover all areas of the Kingdom by surveying more than 850,000 square kilometers, excluding densely populated areas, sand dune areas and space limitations.
The minister also explained that the solar energy measurement stations, equipped with advanced measuring devices on the ground surface, direct normal radiation (DNI), global horizontal radiation (GHI), diffuse horizontal radiation (DHI), dust and pollutant deposition rates, the surface of the earth They record
Wind energy measuring stations, which will be installed at different heights up to 120 meters high, will record wind speed and direction, ambient temperature, atmospheric pressure and relative humidity.
The project also primarily contributes to achieving the optimal energy mix targets for electricity generation, with renewable energy sources accounting for around 50% of the energy mix by 2030.
Al Saud added that starting in 2024, the kingdom will tender new renewable energy projects with a capacity of 20 gigawatts annually, with the goal of reaching between 100 and 130 gigawatts by 2030, depending on the growth in electricity demand.
