The UAE chaired the annual meeting of the OPEC Fund Ministerial Council

The Ministry of Finance of the United Arab Emirates announced that the UAE chaired the 45th annual meeting of the OPEC Fund Ministerial Council held in Vienna, Austria.


According to Amac News: The ministry said that Mohammad Hadi Al Husseini, Minister of Finance, headed the UAE delegation and the members of the council discussed the annual report of 2023 as well as the latest developments and progress of the fund's projects and initiatives.
The meeting included a comprehensive agenda that included the election of al Husseini as president and the Minister of People's Power, Economy and Finance of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela as vice president.
The Organization's 2023 Annual Report and Financial Statements were presented, information on the OPEC Fund's 2030 Strategic Framework - Mid-Term Review was shared, and the date and venue of the 2025 Ministerial Council meeting was set, among other things.
The OPEC International Development Fund was established in 1976. This fund works in cooperation with the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and partners in developing countries and the international development community to stimulate economic growth and social progress in low- and middle-income countries.
This program addresses projects such as food, energy, infrastructure, employment, clean water and sanitation, health care and education.
The country has committed about 27 billion dollars for development projects in more than 125 countries, with a total project cost of more than 200 billion dollars.
