Dubai Customs has announced that it has introduced a voluntary disclosure system for customs errors to enable customers to disclose previous errors made when declaring information on customs declarations.

According to Amac News: Dubai Customs has said that the purpose of this policy is to foster a culture of compliance, transparency and participation among customers.
Article 141 of the Common Customs Law allows partial or full exemption from customs fines when companies voluntarily disclose violations before detection by Dubai Customs.
This policy consists of nine articles, most prominently the "Voluntary Disclosure System", which is a disclosure statement submitted by the customer to protect Dubai Customs from any inadvertent mistakes and/or irregularities committed during customs clearance and declaration of information related to declarations and Notify customs.
Customs fines may be fully or partially waived for customs violations if voluntary disclosure is made before they are discovered by Dubai Customs.
In addition, optional disclosure applies to the following violations: import and export violations, customs declaration violations, transit violations, warehouse violations, violations in customs-controlled areas, temporary import violations, re-export violations and any other customs violations.
This policy states that the Customs Audit Office is responsible for the implementation and interpretation of its provisions. It also notes that voluntary disclosure requests can be accessed through the electronic channels of Dubai Customs and Dubai Trade.
