The high-level political forum for sustainable development began

United Nations Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammad has announced that the High Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development (HLPF) has started in New York.


According to Amac News: The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations has said that the two-week HLPF is the central platform of the United Nations to follow up and review the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the global level.
According to him, this is the top point of the architecture for the follow-up and review of the 2030 agenda, which was determined by the 2030 agenda and General Assembly Resolution 299/70.
The UN Deputy Secretary-General also called for transformative actions and bold policies to ensure a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable future.
Paula Narvaez, President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) also highlighted the challenges facing developing countries, especially conflict-affected areas, and emphasized the need for peace and stability.
He emphasized that the agenda includes local and regional actions, insights from regional forums, key intergovernmental discussions and the presentation of voluntary national VNR) opinions from 37 countries.
The forum's public debate will link last year's SDG summit to the upcoming summit this September.
She also emphasized the importance of inclusive participation, especially of youth and marginalized groups, and the trans sectoral nature of a gender perspective to achieve sustainable development.
HLPF 2024 is based on the experience of 37 countries that practice VNR. It will also hear from other countries and participants about experiences, best practices and lessons learned in implementing the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
