Afghanistan's environmental projects will be activated again

Officials in Afghanistan's National Environmental Protection Agency have announced that out of 32 projects suspended by the international community, 10 projects worth 58.7 million dollars have been removed from suspension.


According to Amac News: ZainulAbudin Aabid, the deputy of the National Environmental Protection Department, said that out of 32 projects suspended by the international community, 10 projects have been suspended so far and "impressive" progress has been made to resume them.
He stated that the Afghan government hopes that Afghanistan will be officially invited to the world conference (COP-29) which is scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan this year, so that Afghanistan and its vulnerable people will be truly represented.
The deputy of Afghanistan's National Department of Environmental Protection said that this department has been able to monitor the activities of 22 thousand 328 settlements, mansions, wedding halls, factories, pottery workshops, regressions and various guilds in order to reduce environmental pollution in the past one year.
According to Aabid, among them, the activities of 14 thousand 825 places are in accordance with the environmental standards and the activities of another 1 thousand 581 places have been corrected.
This official of Afghanistan's National Department of Environmental Protection emphasized that last year, five memorandums of understanding worth one million dollars were signed in the field of implementing environmental projects with non-governmental organizations.
He said that the assessment of the environmental and social effects of 1,520 different activities and projects in the public and private sectors has been carried out, of which 1,498 projects and activities have received approval and environmental permits, and the remaining 22 projects and activities have been The reason for non-compliance with environmental standards has been rejected.
Aabid said that according to the findings of this department, the increase in heat, successive droughts, monsoon floods and the decrease in agricultural production have had unfortunate consequences for the citizens of Afghanistan.
He also mentioned the increase of human, plant and animal diseases, internal migrations, land and forest destruction and climate change as other problems that have challenged the lives of the country's citizens.

Aabid also said that protecting and preventing the smuggling of 17,216 different types of bird wings and 25 wild animals, and monitoring the breeding farm of wild animals in Balkh and Farah, is another part of the achievements of this department during this period.
On the other hand, Ruhollah Amin, head of climate change of Afghanistan's Environmental Protection Department, said that out of 32 projects suspended by the international community, 7 projects have been suspended and 2 projects are actually working.
Amin added that efforts are underway on several other projects as well. Officials of the National Environmental Protection Agency of Afghanistan said that the planning of water resources and runoff projects adapted to climate change, the plan to strengthen appropriate and low-carbon methods, the plan to build an environmental research farm, the campaign plan National seedling and climate change vulnerability assessment plan is one of the major achievements of this department in the past year.
