Dubai introduces air taxis
According to Amac News: Khaled Al Awadhi, the director of the transportation systems department at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said that with the use of Joby Aviation, the first of the four points of the Flying Taxi is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2026.
According to Al Awadhi, the Roads and Transport Department will revolutionize urban transport in the first quarter of 2026 as part of its Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) initiatives.
According to him, the event, which is a leading global platform for shaping the future of mobility, will be held from September 16 to 20 at the Dubai World Trade Center.
This project is considered an ambitious step in the field of autonomous air transport, and its aim is to provide a modern and efficient means of transport.
According to Al Awadhi, this innovative initiative promises fast and safe movement between key locations in the UAE and offers travelers a futuristic mode of travel above the cityscape.
The electric air taxis will operate from four Dubai International Airports (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina and Downtown Dubai, said Tyler Trerotola, Middle East General Manager, Joby Aviation.
They are designed to carry a pilot and four passengers at a speed of 320km/h, which means passengers can get from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah in 10 to 12 minutes, compared to 45 minutes by car, he added.
