According to Amac News: ADNOC L&S stated that the remaining five vessels are expected to be delivered in 2025 and 2026. The company has indicated that "Al Shelila" will be immediately chartered to a reputable global energy trader upon delivery.
Abdul Kareem Al Masabi, CEO of ADNOC L&S, mentioned that the company is expanding its fleet to meet the rising global demand for natural gas. In 2022, ADNOC L&S awarded shipbuilding contracts to Jiangnan Shipyard for six LNG carriers as part of its strategy to expand its fleet in response to the increasing global demand for natural gas as a lower-carbon energy source.
In 2024, the company also moved to strengthen and modernize its asset base with new contracts for up to 23 new vessels, including 8 to 10 LNG carriers, nine Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs), and four Very Large Ammonia Carriers (VLACs).
Additionally, the company reported progress in the acquisition of Navig8, which is expected to be completed by March 31, 2025, at the latest.
The collaboration between ADNOC L&S and Jiangnan Shipyard continues to strengthen. In 2020, AW Shipping, the strategic joint venture between ADNOC L&S and Wanhua Chemical, awarded shipbuilding contracts for five Very Large Gas Carriers to Jiangnan. This partnership expanded in 2024 with new contracts for nine VLECs and four VLACs.
