Amac News: JA Solar and Jinko Solar, two of the largest suppliers of PV modules in the world, and CATL, the largest battery manufacturer in the world and a leading supplier of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), were announced as the selected suppliers for this project.
Also, Larsen & Toubro and POWERCHINA have been selected as the selected engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors for the project, which will be built in Abu Dhabi.
The delegation text for the EPC contractors was signed on the same day during a special ceremony at the Masdar Pavilion during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).
Masdar, in partnership with EWEC (Emirates Water and Electricity Company), announced at ADSW that it is developing this giga-scale project capable of providing up to 1 gigawatt (GW) of baseload energy 24/7.
The project will include a 5.2 gigawatt (DC) photovoltaic solar power plant and a 19 gigawatt-hour (GWh) battery storage system, making it the largest solar and BESS project in the world.
Jinko Solar and JA Solar were chosen as the selected suppliers of PV modules with a capacity of 2.6 GW each, and both companies use the latest TopCon technology with optimized parameters for maximum efficiency and production for 30 years.
CATL, as BESS's selected supplier, will supply its advanced TENER technology for a total capacity of 19GWh.
