Amac News: To meet this growing global demand, this airline has leased two Boeing 747 cargo planes, which will begin in 2025 with a 15% increase in the main cargo capacity compared to January 2024.
Badr Abbas, Senior Vice President, Emirates SkyCargo, said: "During 2024, we made significant investments in new and leased cargo aircraft to meet the evolving demands of the global air cargo and supply chain."
He added: "We anticipate that demand will continue to increase and this reflects the importance of Dubai as a global logistics hub."
A multi-year lease for the Boeing 747s has been signed with Compass Group, a long-time partner of Emirates SkyCargo. This investment in additional Boeing 747F capacity will allow the airline to provide immediate capacity to meet customer demand, while the partners continue to explore ways to expand the partnership.
Emirates SkyCargo is the cargo division of Emirates Airlines. This division is recognized as one of the largest providers of freight transportation services globally and provides various freight services to customers around the world.
In 2024, the airline took delivery of two of its newest Boeing 777Fs, which were immediately put into service, focusing on increasing e-commerce cargo demand from Asian markets.
These additional aircraft also enabled Emirates SkyCargo to expand its cargo network to 38 destinations and add a weekly flight to Copenhagen, Denmark.
Emirates SkyCargo's active fleet now includes 10 Boeing 777Fs and six leased Boeing 747s, bringing the total number of aircraft to 16.
The airline also has 13 more Boeing 777Fs on order, which are expected to be delivered between 2025 and 2026.
