Amac News: Based on the MoEI statement, the meeting aimed to share the latest technologies and experiences in water management and advance cooperation in related fields.
The meeting was co-chaired by Sharif Al-Olama, Deputy Minister of Energy and Petrochemical Affairs at the MoEI, and Seong-Wan Lee, Director General of the Water Use Policy Office at the Ministry of Environment of Korea.
Sharif Al-Olama, Deputy Minister of Energy and Petrochemical Affairs at the MoEI, referred to the Water Security Strategy 2036 developed by the UAE at the meeting, saying that its aim is to ensure sustainable and continuous access to safe and sufficient quantities of water.
Meanwhile, Seong-won Lee, Director-General of the Water Use Policy Office at the Ministry of Environment of Korea, said that the Republic of Korea and the UAE signed an agreement in 2015 to strengthen cooperation in the water industry. Since then, the two countries have held six rounds of meetings of the Joint Committee for Cooperation in the Field of Water Resources.
At the meeting, presentations were made by the UAE side on future initiatives for the Smart Water Network Management Pilot Project and the management of surface water, flash floods and dams.
On the other hand, Korean experts presented technologies for floating photovoltaic projects and policies and technologies for an early warning system for urban floods in Korea.
