Dubai South, the largest major single-city development focused on aviation, has announced that the first phase of the UAE's self-driving car trial in partnership with Evocargo has been successfully completed.
According to Amac News: Dubai South said that the tests were carried out on a specific route in a closed area in the South Logistics Zone of Dubai.
During the tests, Evocargo verified the hardware, software and reliability of its unmanned electric truck, the Evocargo N1, for future service in the logistics area.
These tests measured the Evocargo N1's success in object detection, crash avoidance, moving obstacle avoidance and emergency stops.
The truck's autopilot system was tested in a full range of maneuvers (park, reverse park, turn and reverse turn). The functionality of the control center (route management, monitoring and remote control) was also tested.
Evocargo produced a comprehensive report of the trial results in two phases. In the second stage, the Evocargo N1 platform carried out cargo transport tasks on a standard route in a closed area.
The platform's ability to respond to its surroundings in mixed traffic was extensively tested and met high validation standards.
In a memorandum of understanding signed in December 2022, Dubai South and Evocargo agreed to conduct the UAE's first self-driving electric vehicle trials.
