With the air cargo market outpacing pre-pandemic levels, Boeing has announced that it expects this growth to continue in the long term.
Boeing: Air cargo traffic to continue growing
According to Amac News: Boeing forecasts that air cargo traffic will increase by an average of 4% per year through 2043. The company added that the global air cargo fleet is expected to reach 3,900 airplanes by 2043, representing a two-thirds increase from 2,340 freighters in 2023.
This growth is particularly driven by demand in high-growth Asian markets, with the large widebody freighter fleet expected to nearly double.
Boeing predicts that East and South Asian markets will experience the highest traffic growth in the coming years, attributed to expanding economies and consumer demand.
With an anticipated nearly threefold increase in the Asia-Pacific fleet, carriers in this region will require the most deliveries (980), followed closely by North America (955). Together, these two regions will account for more than two-thirds of global deliveries.
India's domestic air cargo market is also expected to nearly quadruple due to the expansion of express and e-commerce networks.
