​​​​​​​The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has announced that it organized a workshop to review the experiences of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the field of accreditation of food establishments that export to member countries.
UAE hosts workshop to enhance food safety cooperation in GCC
According to Amac News: Citing the ministry's announcement, this workshop, which was held in Dubai, reflects the UAE's role in strengthening food security at the regional level.
The workshop emphasized ensuring the safety of food at the source and mitigating risks from diseases, pests and other threats posed by imported foods by presenting practices on accreditation of exporting food facilities to the GCC.
Participants in the workshop included members of technical teams from food safety institutions and regulatory bodies responsible for food safety in the GCC countries and representatives from relevant institutions and local authorities in the UAE.
The purpose of this workshop is to strengthen efforts to complete the requirements of the customs union and the economic agreement among the member states, which guarantees the unhindered flow of goods without customs or non-customs barriers.
