The national under-17 football team of the country won the Central Asian Cup (CAFA) with a 1-0 victory over the Uzbekistan national team.

According to Amac News: Last evening, Saturday (24 Aug), the Afghanistan Football Federation wrote on its Facebook page that the final match between the teams of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan was hosted by the city of Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
In the first half of the match, Azimuddin Hajizadeh scored a goal in the 28th minute for the under-17 national football team of the country, and as a result, the match ended with a score of 1-0 in favor of Afghanistan.
After defeating the teams of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Afghanistan reached the final match of this tournament. In these competitions, Afghanistan became the champion with three consecutive wins, scoring four goals and not conceding any goals.
With 3 victories and 3 clean sheets, the students of Elias Ahmed Manouchehr have recorded the best performance among all participating teams in Central Asia.
The country's under-17 team won the third place in last year's competition.
