Robotic vehicles take center stage at IDEX 2025
According to Amac News, French company Soframe introduced its unmanned aerial vehicle (UGV) designed to detect and remove mines and improvised explosive devices. The company said it is considering transferring some of its manufacturing operations to the UAE and will implement it if field trials are successful.
American company L3Harris Technologies showcased the T4 Robotic System, a multi-purpose, highly mobile UGV with advanced haptic feedback technology that is ideal for challenging terrain and conditions such as those found in the UAE.
UAE company EDGE also introduced the SINYAR-LAR3P advanced UAV, which is still under development. The UAV has reconnaissance and combat capabilities, a significant payload capacity and high speed.
Haya Al Nuaimi, Mechanical Design Engineer at EDGE, said that the SINYAR-LAR3P is controlled from a ground station using satellite communications. She explained that the advanced aircraft, developed in the UAE, has not yet entered service but has attracted a lot of attention from visitors and participants at IDEX and NAVDEX 2025.
She also explained that the robotic vehicle has advanced reconnaissance and combat capabilities and can carry up to 610 kilograms of payload and fly at speeds of up to 650 kilometers per hour.
The product demonstrates the UAE’s progress in providing advanced systems that support modern military and security operations.
GCS also pointed to its successful systems for mine and improvised explosive device clearance and unveiled robotic vehicles of various sizes. The company has so far sold six robotic systems for humanitarian purposes to the UAE.
