Officials in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan say that the export of hand-woven carpets and rugs in the country has increased by 33% in the first five months of this year.
According to Amac News: Abdulsalam Javad Akhundzadeh, the spokesman of the Ministry of Industry and Trade at Speaking to Afghan News Agency, says that the total value exported abroad reaches more than 7 million 500 thousand dollars.
He stated that the carpet was exported to Turkey, America, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Uzbekistan, India, Germany, Pakistan, China and other countries.
Akhundzadeh says that Afghan carpets are currently exported to China, Turkmenistan, India, and the United Arab Emirates through the air corridor, and the ministry is trying to activate the air corridor with Pakistan, Iran, and other European countries.
At the same time, officials in the Afghanistan Carpet Producers and Exporters Union say that in 1402 AH, the production of handwoven carpets and rugs in the country was more than one million square meters.
